The newly appointed Director General of the National Institute of Education, Professor Prasad Sethunga, took over the duties as the 13th Director General of the National Institute of Education on July 7, 2023, at a formal ceremony held with the participation of staff.

Prof. Sethunga works actively in the field of education, including teacher education, teachers’ professional development, interactive education, and school-based teacher development programs in Sri Lanka.

He also served as a senior professor in the Education Faculty at the University of Peradeniya.
