Welcome to NIE
 
The National Institute of Education (NIE), Sri Lanka, serves as a cornerstone of the nation’s education system. We play a pivotal role in shaping the National Curriculum, providing professional development for teachers and school leaders, and advancing both educational policy and practitioner research.
 
Our mission is to become a Center of Excellence in education in Sri Lanka. We work collaboratively with the Ministry of Education, the National Education Commission, and other stakeholders to realize the nation’s vision for delivering high-quality, sustainable education.
 
At this transformative moment, we are committed to revisiting and refining curriculum reforms, elevating the quality of teacher education, and driving impactful research initiatives. In parallel, we are dedicated to building robust partnerships both locally and internationally to further our shared goals.
 
As we continue to pursue our mission, we reaffirm our commitment to uphold core values and ethics, prioritize learner-centered education approaches, and integrate emerging technologies into educator capacity building, updating assessment, and evaluation frameworks.
